Power Options

By amateur_82 ·
Good Morning,

An interesting article claims that if we apply two methods we save so much energy as if we had the pc closed :

1. BIOS Settings -> Power -> Suspend Mode / Type -> S3 Only
2. Power Options -> Power Schemes.

Is this true? And if yes, are there any other ideas ?

Thanks in advance

You can only save power when the machine is unplugged. It even consumes power when the machine is "off". Yes, you can reduce power by setting the power management, but it won't be like what you said.

Suspend or Hibernate

by TheChas In reply to Power Options

When in full suspend or hibernate mode, the PC should draw only a little more power than when it is shut down but still plugged in.

So, this option is better than leaving the PC on all the time.

That said, your biggest energy savings is still replacing all CRT monitors with LCD monitors.

Your next biggest savings would be in having a switch that allows you to disconnect the power from all of the wall transformers connected to all the peripheral devices.
