Is it possible to embed a video file say 7MB into a power point presentation rather than linking it which power point does by default by the command insert / Movies from file...

Embedding a video file would mean that the presenation file size would be around 7MB..
is this possible with the Pack and go option in power point

It depends on your version of Power Point. I know that the XP and 2003 versions let you embed everything in your presentations. Gone are the days when a presentation could be easily moved on a floppy! I have a slide show presentation which is a collage of digital photos of a summer program that is about 130MB!! You need to run it from the hard drive not the cd and the PC needs a good speed processor and lots of RAM to run. Fonts, sounds, and motion clips can also be embedded into the presentations.
