Powerpoint linked to Excel data

Is there a way to update data to my PowerPoint file linked from an Excel file while that PowerPoint constantly runs in akiosk mode?

I know that by closing the powerpoint and opening it again, or by clicking on that data and clicking update, I can get the new data.

But what I need to do is dynamically link my data updates into my constantly running presentation.

Maybe somehow I can automate the opening and closing of the PowerPoint file ?
