PowerPoint Presentation

I would currently like to use PowerPoint to create a slide presentation of pictutrs, but I need to know if the “save as a slide show” option will allow the slide show to be viewed on a regular dvd player instead of a computer. If not, any suggestions as to a good video creation piece of software. I have the one by Roxio, but it doesn’t have a lot of transitions like PowerPoint. Thanks.
