Prevent multiple same message copies

By shanna ·
Hi all,

Is there any way to prevent a user from copying the same message MANY, MANY times from his InBox to a folder housed within a .PST file folder?

I have a user who, forgetting he's previously copied a certain message from his InBox to a storage .PST folder, keeps re-copying the same message a few days later. The result is having many multiple copies of the same message in the same folder.

I haven't been able to locate any documentation on if there's a way to prevent this kind of thing, and if so, what procedures/changes need to happen to block it from happening.

What was Microsoft's rationale for allowign this behaviour? For documents and files, at least there's an overwrite warning that comes up indicating there's already a copy of an identical file.......

Anyway..... any assistance is much appreciated, as always.

Shaun.

I could not find anything that can prevent this happening(except for the user to change his/her habit)

However I found a utiltiy that can actually remove duplicates automatically. You can ask the user to run once in a while to automatically remove the duplicate emails

http://www.mapilab.com/outlook/duplicate_remover/

It costs $15. not too bad

Many thanks for the input. I too have run into a brick wall regarding documentation and corrective measures, so we may end up going the route you suggest.

I'll give you the points, as you were the only person to come up with ANY suugestion!

Thanks again.

Shaun.
