Print jobs are not automatically removed

By Bancal ·
I have the following problem. When users submit print jobs to the printer, these jobs are not automatically removed from spooler.
Spooler service has enouth disk space to store print jobs and likely runs properly.
I use HP LaserJet 1100 with newest driver version and Windows NT 4 Server with FAT hard disk as print server.
How do I get printer to remove complited print jobs from spooler

First of all make sure that bidirectional printing is enabled in print properties and in the bios. Secondly try using a laserjet III driver as this is compatible with the HP 1100. For more help try HP's support pages at http://www.hp.com .

Look around in the printer properties for "keep documents after printing". For example, on my NT workstation I have an HPLJ6 connected. Click on the properties of the printer, then click on the scheduling tab. The last thing on the bottom of that tab says "keep documents after printing". Make sure that box is not checked.

I have had a similar problem before. I reinstalled SP6a and never had it happend again. I say similar because it would lock up at a regular interval once a week. You could send a job but nothing would come out. SP might do it if you haven't tried it.

Make sure that Domain Users have Change permission for the Spool folder.
If they don't the job cannot delete after printing.
