Printer not responding, why?

By wompai ·
Ey guys,

I recently tried to install a new printer on a computer and something went wrong. I did the installation via the CD and did everything correct according to the on-screen instructions. However, on the screen that sayd "plug-in and turn-on printer" I got stuck. The program did not advance to the next screen because it could not find the printer. So I restarted the computer to try again and when I tried to print a document I found two printers: Canon Pixma and canon Pixma (copy 1). When I choose Canon Pixma, a screen pops-up: "Printer offline", when the printer clearly is turned-on and connected to the computer via a USB port. When I choose Canon Pixma (copy 1), a screen pops-up: "printer not responding". The computer seems to have trouble detecting the printer. What can I do to make this work?

Further info:

OS: Windows 7
Printer: Canon Pixma M320
Driver version: M1.2

Delete both Canon PIXMA Printers

Then use a new USB Cable directly into the Computer and ideally one plugged into the M'Board not a Fly Lead or Hub and leave the printer turned off.

Run the Setup Wizard and when prompted turn the printer on. The important thing here is to use the correct drivers for your OS and Hardware. So if you have a MX320 Printer and a 32 Bit version of 7 you need the 32 Bit Driver and if you have a 64 Bit you need the 64 Bit Drivers. Download them direct from Canon and do not rely on the disc that came with the printer. Also Do Not rely on the Add New Printer option available in the Windows 7 OS.

OH and By The Way I used the MX320 as I'm assuming that is what you have because Canon doesn't have a M320 Model Printer listed.
