Printer problems with word 2003

Word 2003 cannot "see" my printer, it is the default printer for my laptop (running Vista Business). All other office products have no problem and will print to the printer except for word??
I have uninstalled the printer, downloaded the most recent drivers to try solve this problem but it's not having it... frustrating really. I can see the printer in the control panel set as default, as mentioned I can print from excel, outlook etc. Also from adobe reader but not from word....aaaargh!! up until a couple of weeks ago it printed from word fine.
I have recently installed Zonealarm on the machine could this be an issue? if so why can I still print from other office products when the security settins are identical?

the problem seems to originate from word itself (I assume), the printer is a HP laserjet 1320
any ideas will be appreciated?
