Printer/GPO Issue

By aintgot1 ·
Having an issue with what I think may be a printer GPO, could be something else. Had a 2008r2 print server but it crashed. Replaced it with a Windows 2016 server. All printers were re-installed and GPO's edited. One printer or the GPO that applies it is giving problems. It gets applied to a standardized desktop users OU. That same printer gets applied to another OU. The difference is the standard desktop users GPO makes it the default printer. Here's the problem. When a standard desktop user logs on, the printer shows up but they can't choose a default printer, they get an error. If they reboot the pc, the printer gets applied and it is selected as default printer like the GPO applied it correctly. Every morning the users have to reboot in order for the printer to get applied correctly. What I mean by standard desktop is that it is a mandatory profile. Everything was re-created the same as before the crash. I know I left out some information like the error when trying to select a default printer, but I can get that tomorrow and hopefully any other info that is requested.
