Printing in a foreign domain without tru

By tom.morris ·
I have NT users that occasionally work in domains that do not have a trust relationship.

I need to have a convenient way to allow users from a foreign domain access to printers.

Does anyone know if HP has a utility that will allow IP peer to peer printing? Ricoh has a program, but I am looking for one for HP.

Thanks,

This is what local accounts are for. Give each user from a foreign domain a local account on your print server, using the same user name and password they use on their own domain, with the right to print, but without the right to log in locally. When they try to print, they will authenticate as the local users.

If you are using Jetdirect cards, and your users are printing directly to the print devices (which requires they have the HP Jetdirect drivers loaded), there is no NT authentication at all, and anyone who can reach the printer can print to it.

Good luck.

If you are using HP JetDirect printservers (internal or external), peer-to-peer printing can be installed with JetAdmin or Web JetAdmin downloaded from HP's website. This will bypass all NT authentication and restrictions.

If the print devices are shared from local LPT ports, you can create a group in the target domain with anonymous access to the print device.
