Printing Page numbers in Word

After inserting into a footer the autotext “Page X of Y” it displays properly on screen. However, when you print the actual printed text says Page 2 of 2 or Page 3 of 3 instead of Page 2 of 6.

Any ideas as to how I could correct this or what settings have changed to make it do this.
