Printing Problem

By nhoek ·
I have one client on our network that is having problems printing an Adobe PDF file. Its a large document (72 pages) but even if I try to print 8 pages it does the same thing. I am printing to an HP 8550 GN Color laser printer. I am printing bothsides and the printer prints only 4 pages and then continues to say processing job. This is a Win 98 Se client with 128 MB. Now I can print the document with out any problems. I am runing Win 2000 with 128 MB of ram. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the printer and the same thing?

Compare Adobe Reader settings on the two computers. What you'll probably find in Edit --> Preferences is that Adobe is setup differently on the one computer.

yes and if you haven't already, compare the versions and settings of the printer drivers on the computer that works and the computer that doesn't. is one postscript, the other pcl5? does the win98 printer driver configured correctly re: printer memory? is the bad boy using the latest printer driver? is there plenty (minimum imho >300MB) of defragged free hard disk space on the win98 machine that won't print? is there another win98 machine that will print the large pdf with no problems? if you print small amounts of the document does it work then?
