Printing Problem Word 2003

By cwunder3 ·
My client has a document with 50 pages. The first and second pages are not numbered. The third page is actually numbered at the bottom as Page 1. When she prints the document and specifies 1-2 in the Print... area, it not only prints the first two pages, but also prints the numbered pages 1 and 2 resulting in a total of 4 pages being printed. She only wants the first two pages printed, not the numbered ones. Any help would be appreciated.

remove the numbering from entire document.
then word will count from very beginning.

seems it's counting the pages, and the page numbers from the footer, which is giving you the 4 page print.

Look for section breaks.
To remove all section breaks and replace them with page breaks, in Edit>Replace:
Find ^b
Replace ^m

I agree with DKlippert. Chances are they have more than one section break on one of those first pages.

Double click in the footer area of the document.
You will enter the header/footer formatting mode. The tool bar for header/footer formatting will appear. Ensure you are in the "section 2" of the footer (clicking on left and right indicators in the footer formatting toolbar will change the section numbers)

Click the "format page number" button in the toolbar. Activate the "Continue from previous section" radio button.

Click the "close" button in the toolbar to exit the header/footer formatting mode.

Good luck

First there is a section break between page 2 and 3. If the break is not as a result of wanted formating then delete the break. But if it is part of formating especially for different page numbering e.g first section Roman numbering and the second part normal numbers then during printing specify the type of numbering used on that section e.g i-ii
