Printing to LPT1 Port in Windows 2000

How can I recognize the lpt1 port in Windows 2000 Pro? Using a redirection in a command prompt window such as “type autoexec.bat >lpt1” does not work. We are also getting a message from an AIX Unix box when sending a print job to the WIN 2K clients local printer, “Unkown port lpt1”, The port is working properly in the system hardware device manager and the Printer is assigned to lpt1. Please help and Thank You.
