    Hi All,

On my host machine windows xp sp3 have configured vmware and installed guest os linux 4 with the different ip addresses for both host and guest os. Both are pinging well but while connecting from windows to linux using telnet service i am getting this kinda error

Error: Connecting to HOSTNAME/IP… Could not open connection to the host, on port 23: Connection failed

Can someone please tell me what could be the possible reasons.

Telnet disabled as this is one of the most basic security things you do. The second most likely is the port is closed on one system as a basic security measure. Either of these is likely on the Linux system as they worry about security more than Windows does.
