Question

Problem with a detachable mic on a headset

By uhdumufthefakeone ·
I've encountered a major problem while setting up my headset, and this has happened before. My laptop does not register any microphone connected to it, sticking to the implanted mic already on the keyboard. I've so far looked up many forums and sites for my case, but none of them has yet to work. I'm desperate.
The headset is a Korp Oxygen from a company named G-Lab, with a combined 3.5mm jack. The mic is detachable.
As for my computer, it's a Windows 10, with only one headphone jack on it.

Hi,

That sounds like a very annoying issue, I am sorry that you are experiencing that.

1. My first suggestion is to go to Device Manager by typing "devmgmt.msc" this will show you all the devices you have connected in terms of hardware. Have a look on that list and make sure everything is installed and configured correctly no issues or warnings that drivers are missing.

2. If they were working at one point, is there anything you changed, for example, did you upgrade a driver, install a new operating system, reinstall your operating system, if yes, this will indicate it's most probably a driver issue.

3. It could be faulty or broken somehow on the motherboard or shorted somehow, my suggestion would be to give something like this a go: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Plugable-Headphone-Microphone-Aluminum-Compatible/dp/B00NMXY2MO

This will change one of your existing USB slots so you can plug in your headset! Hope this helps and do let me know how you get on, send screenshots of your findings. Did you also try them out on another computer to make sure it's not the headset that is broke?
