Problem with Nero Burn

By kaighoba ·
I have Nero 6.0 delux and Windows XP (SP2). I have trouble burning both data dvd and regulard dvd; the computer totally locks up (I have to shut down the system manually). I had a faint recollection about Widnows SP2 and Nero software but can't be sure. Any help is appreciated.

First thing I would do is to reinstall Nero. If it still persist than it might be a problem with the hardware.

Also, how fast is your computer? Sometimes it might take longer to burn if your computer is slow and make it look like the computer locked up.

But if i was you reinstalling the software would be my first step.

Good luck.

Hi,

XP has a built in CD burn function, based on Roxio's software. If this is turned on, then there may be a conflict between Nero and the inbuilt software. To check/turn off open windows explorer, right click on the CD disk, select properties, recording, and turn off the record function.

if you computer is older or running with a low amount of ram, the nero suite will suck up alot of ram. if you just want to use nero to burn cd's, try uninstalling all of nero and doing a new custom install selecting the burner program only, nero has alot redundant stuff running in the backround if you do a full install that you may not need, so don't install it, or turn off the start up options in the nero programs in nero's own properties. i had nero and it locked up my pc as soon as i put a cd in. when i reinstalled only what i wanted, (the dvd viewer) it stopped locking up my system. i also turnd off autoplay in winxp and my screensaver. hope this helps

Nero 6.0 is not compatable with SP2.

Go here and download the update and all will be right with the world.

Yet another program "broken" by SP2.
