I have had problems with the XP usb port for printing. I have a lexmark x83 usb port printer,scanner,copier that from time to time will uninstall itself. One day it is installed and working and then the next the complete printer is dropped. And then the add printer process does not work. I wind up haveing to go thru the device manager to add the printer. Is there a good fix to this.
