problems going wireless with comcast/netgear router

By tbordner71 ·
I have been unsuccessfully trying to go wireless for two months now. I know it is not my laptop as I was just at a campground a couple weeks ago wireless. The main computer here at the office is running windows vista. The router is netgear cg814wg v2. It shows my internet connection status as connected and excellent strength, but when I try to connect to anything, it will not work. I have to be hard wired to the router and its driving me crazy. I need someone to run me step by step through to fix it. Yahoo messenger id: smalltownlilac

The recent update/firmware release that took place last month that was supposed to fix Xbox live problems caused another issue. The encryption method/algorithm is different (aka comcast 64 is no longer 5162b03586) and now there are issues present with WPA and any Vista OS.

Switch your security to WEP and Vista will work like a charm.

Plenty of trouble calls in the last month to back this up with...

Windows Vista wireless only connects google

Hi, Do you have solution with the wireless problem?

I am having the same problem here. I bought a HP laptop last week. I had the same problem. I can only browse when connecting with wireless. I can ping yahoo and other addresses but I can not browse the sites. I was on the phone with HP and Comcast support several hours but they could not resolve the problem. I return the laptop to the store because I thought it is the laptop?s problem. I bought another laptop (Windows Vista), same problem. I have another XP laptop home. No problem.

Netgear Wireless Cable Modem Gateway.
ISP: Comcast.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!
