Problems Opening Word 2000 in Word but N

When I try to open Word 2000 i get an error that says WINWORD caused an invalid page fault in
module VBE6.DLL at 0167:650ebeb3. I checked out the Office site and it says that it is related to Active X controls in word and refers to doing an update (2000 SR1/SR1a) to correct this problem. I have not changed my Active X settings and i have downloaded the update but i am still having the same problem. What appears to be really weird is the fact that i can open word through Contacts in Outlook 2000. Suggestions?
