    problems using EasySync with Handspring

    Locked

    by cmcclanahan ·

We have found EasySync3.0 to be an acceptable solution for syncing our Handsprings with Lotus Notes. However, in one case, the Sync will stop and hang in the middle of synchronizing the Calendar. We have removed what we belive to be the offending entry (possily corrupt), but are still having problems. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I’ve just read about the “Lotus notes problem”. Apparently, you can fix it by using a Palm program called Z’Catalog. You can download it from this page:

      http://www.eblong.com/zarf/zcatalog.html

which also has on it the fix for the “Lotus notes problem.”

      Good luck!

PS – Don’t forget to do a complete backup of your PalmOS based handheld using a program like Pilot-Xfer before trying anything potentially “hazardous”.

I downloaded the “fix”, but there are no clear instructions on how to use it or what the Lotus Notes problem is that it is suppose to fix.
Does anyone have anymore information on this?

Ok, you haven’t mention where the curruption in the calendar was, was it on the Handspring side or the Notes side? With notes, the databases can become corrupted. With Z’catalogue, the only good use of it, is to delete the databases from the Handspring, you can get Z’catalogue from http://www.palm.com. With the palms, there is trick that allows you to take off the timeout function, check to see if you can do the same with the Handsprint, maybe its not hung, its just taking its time. One suggestion I’dmake is, get yourself Intellisync for Palm platform (www.pumatech.com), its the most versatile sync’ing program out there, it gives you alot more support and functionality, but you’d need to have all the data on the Notes side, do a hard reset on the Handspring to wipe out the mess that EasySync has made, and I doubt you’ll have any problems. I’d say because EasySync changes the fields in the Handspring to suit itself, that may be the reason why you are getting data corruption. I’ve supported many mobile devices, Palm, PocketPCs, WinCE and my suggestion is always…Get Intellisync.
