problems with Fonts in MS Office 2000- Power Point & XP Home

I'm running MS XP Home on a Acer Aspire 3000. I have Power Point from MS Office 2000 loaded with all the updates known to mankind (SP3)and then some...PP has hardly any fonts to chose from yet when I go into Control Panel-themes-Fonts there are all kinds of fonts there including the ones I want to use in PP. How do I get them into PP or even WORD?

There are several possibilities.

(1) It is possible your TTFCache is corrupt. In the old days (Win95/Win98), we were told that the cache rebuilds itself if you firt boot into safe mode, then reboot into normal mode. Try this and see if it works on XP.

(2) If the correct printer driver is not installed, it can mess up displaying fonts in the list within programs, even though you can see them listed in the fonts folder. Make sure you have a default printer selected and that it has the most current XP drivers installed.

(3) There is a registry key for fonts that may be dammaged or corrupt. But, I don't want to tackle registry tweaks until we elliminate all other possibilities.

The second one is "Fonts are missing from the Font list when you click the Font box on the Formatting toolbar in Word"

Read those and follow the instructions they offer. If you still have a problem, then report back here and we'll tackle the more difficult theories.
