Problems with LAN with different O.S.

By ferucio ·
I have a LAN with Windows 2000, and I have connected a P.C. with Win98, in this network. My P.C. with Win 98 “is seeing” the network, but the rest of P.C. with Windows 2000, does’t. What can I do?
I'm waiting for an answer.

First thing is your network design

Of course, breaking down the problem into peices will be a big help.

1. What is your Network design? Was it Workgroup or Domain based.

-If your answer is Workgroup, try to check your Workgroup name. Sometimes we mislook changing the Workgroupname of the client. Check this it will certainly help.
-If Domain based, check if the client PC is a member of the domain by checking the Domain name under the Network properties.

Ping other computers if it replies check the workgroup nameand as part of troubleshooting enable only the TCP/IP protocol.

the problem is solved, the cause was a poor instalation of win98. I have installed minimal variant of windows 98, and this was. But this also can be a solution for one which want to be invisible in a network of win 2000. Isn't funny?
