Problems with Office 2003 in a domain.

By ulfbraathen ·
We have a domain in a school with several laptops, workstations and Ncomputing clients.

When a user start a Office program for the first time a installation routine is run. This does not happen on a standalone PC.

When this happen on every ny machine a pupil starts f.x Word on, they abort the routine, because Word starts faster then. But it seems like a problem with the funtion Save as occur then. An error message says that the file have been changed.

Is it possible to install Office (as administrator) on the machine in a way that avoid this problem ?

First to check if it's a new user (optional step because no harm is done otherwise); Then have it write this to the registry.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

"PROGRAMDIR"="C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Office\\OFFICE11\\"
