product code office 97

i have a cd of Office 97 and have it currently legal with the big MS in the sky. my problem is when i tried to load it on my new PC it will not accept the product code. had installed it in another PC at work the week earlier and it worked just fine. HELP my office can not afford to buy new PCs and software!!
