Product Key in Win2K and XP.

By Meatheos ·
Is the product key for Win2K and XP stored in the registry like it is in Win95/98? If so how can I find it? I attempted to use the advice give to find it on 95 and 98. It didn't work, which I expected. I know the answer to this question may require me to edit, or enter, my registry. I am ok with that.

Product Key in Win2K and XP.

This Microsoft's way of saying no to software piracy and propagation. So Microsft have deviced away of making sure that that the product ID once entered doesn't get displayed anywhere. With Windows XP the actual license gets generated randomly at the point of installation. What do you need it for if you have a valid license in the first instance.
