By babsjid ·
How can I design my Views in SQL using enterprise manager for it to prompt for input when i run it.

I want me view to return results from my database based on the input variable.

Thank you in advance.

Can't with views

First of all, views cannot have parameters, you'll have to go with a stored procedure for the kind of functionality that you want.

Secondly, it sounds like you're trying to duplicate Access's trick of automaticaly prompting for parameters that aren't provided. That's a feature of Access and NOT the database engine, which is Jet. Think of Access as a front end application to the Jet database back end. Similarly, Enterprise Manager is a front end to the SQL Server back end. The database isnot providing this feature, it's the Access GUI that's doing it, and Enterprise Manager doesn't.

You'll have to write your own.
