Protection Software Detection

I’m a last year BIT student and i’m doing a project to graduate. We’re working on a security software Cd which will provide general knowledge for novice users. One of the requirement is that we need to auto detect if users have any antivirus;spyware;adware;firewall and if they are still valid??????? Can anyone help me with this???Any program or source code that i can use???
