I am in the final stages of getting amanda backup – client version working on my Sun box running Solaris 2.5. Have done the installation and am configuring the /etc/services & /etc/inetd.conf file to get the port working so that the backup server can sniff the client. I have (double)checked the entries but looking up the syslog I get this error “Aug 30 14:16:14 purlin inetd[120]: amanda/udp: socket:
Protocol not supported”
I have posed this question to the amanda user group but didn’t get much help. I am hoping the unix people will have a better clue to the error as it may have to do with the O/S.
