proxy server 2.0

By esemposki ·
I'm fairly new to Proxy server 2.0. How do I enable outgoing or incoming or both TCP connections to certain ports. And how do I configure the ports so that sockets are open for extended periods of time? This is for MSN messenger and net meeting use.

MS Proxy2 uses Dynamic Packet Filtering to secure connections to ports. To run this service you need to first start Packet filtering on the external interface and then Dynamic Packet Filtering. ( Go to the MMC, right click the Web Proxy and select properties, then click the 'security' button). Dynamic filtering will close the ports when not in use and open them when necessary. Add filters either by using the defaults or creating your own custom entries - like 20 & 21 for FTP 80 for www publishing ect. Im not sure how to configure this for Netmeeting ect. Its also worth mentioning that you may have to open these ports on your router (some routers are set to dis-allow everything and you have to specify what packets it allows thru). Try visiting http://proxyfaq.networkgods.com/ for info on MSP2 and other useful stuff.
