Public option is bad because the man who's pushing it is Black.

By entryleveltech ·
Even the 3rd world country where I come provides free medical care to citizens. This country whose annual budget is less the 600 million has no pharmaceutical companies. Not even a one-bedroom, or studio size medical research facility. Yet the government there provides free health care to its citizens amidst staggering poverty. It astonished me when politician mostly Republicans oppose affordable healthcare to the very people that elected them simply because the president is black. It is more sicken when Bill Oreilly (The Oreilly Factor), Sean Hannity (The Hannity Show) and Glenn Beck (The Glenn Beck Show) all of FoxNews, plus Rush Limbaugh and Dennis Miller advocate that Obama?s healthcare to the poor Americans should fail at all cost simpy because this guy(obama)is black. With that attitude of opposing other race, we are then calming that America should be a leader of the free world when in fact not all of the world is white? Your got to wake up and see what's good for America even if the man or woman who?s bringing it is Asian, Black, Latino, or White American. This healthcare thing is actually exposing America darkside to the rest of the world and America ability to be the leader of the free world is seriously being questioned! I wonder if you guys know that? "One nation indivisible." Is America forgetting her history?

Politely disagree.

He's prejudicial, and not limited to race alone. Racism is merely a subset of the whole.

What is the logic behind your conclusion?

by Geek3001 In reply to You're a racist

<p>If you are basing your conclusion on the title of the posting, then you might want to read the article. (I'm assuming you did though.)</p>
<p>Now if you are basing your conclusion based on statements like the following, I can see where you are coming from.</p> <p>"It astonished me when politician mostly Republicans oppose affordable healthcare to the very people that elected them simply because the president is black."</p>
<p>Statements like that would need to be backed up with actual quotes from Republicans and others opposing affordable healthcare on the basis of his color. The quotes would also have to be widespread from a variety of sources, and not just cherry picked from one or two people that Republican and others find to be an embarrassment.</p>
<p>IF they are backed up by quotes, then the person is just reporting the 'facts' as they see them. They wouldn't be a 'pure' racist in that instance.</p>
<p>IF they are NOT backed up by quotes, then they are being racist by the fact that they are assuming that Republicans are being racist. (They are also ignoring the fact that there are Republicans of all colors out there.)</p>
<p>Now, ARE there quotes out there, in sufficient quantity and quality, to justify the writer's comments?</p>

Oh give me a break!

by JackOfAllTech In reply to Public option is bad beca ...

They're not opposing it because he's black, they're opposing it because it's a bad idea.

Your 3rd world country can give free health care because it's subsidized by American tax-payers.

Spit out the Kool-Aid.

Not everyone opposed to the president's plan does so because of his race, any more than those opposed to the previous president's security processes did so because they were anti-American. It's perfectly possible to be opposed to a person's IDEAS without being opposed to the PERSON himself. Indeed, the public discussion of ideas is a cornerstone of our system.

O'Reilly, Limbaugh, etc. are paid performers, whose jobs are to attract viewers who will theoretically stick around for the advertisements between their performance segments. They know their audiences, and are paid to make statements that will keep those audiences tuned in.

You're making the mistake of assuming their opinions, whether of Obama's plans or of the man himself, represent the opinions of anyone else, or are even the opinions of those performers when they're off the air. Such an assumption is every bit as prejudicial as those you accuse others of making. If you have links to evidence of any of the pundits you cite definitively stating they're opposed to Obama's plans because of his race, please post them. Otherwise you're projecting your assumptions on them, the same as you accuse them of doing.

Oh, and pro wrestling's fake too.
