Question about MCP Status and MCSA

By js2000t ·
Hello. I have MCP in NT 4 WS and Server from 1999. Back then I got the card and certificate. I just took and passed Exam 70-210 to get MCP in Windows 2000 (on way to gettting MCSA). Will MS send me anything new in the mail or because I have the old MCP will they not send me anything until I have completed all MCSA or MCSE requirements? Also I cannot seem to login in the MCP website as all my old info has changed. Is there any easy way to check you current "certification status" with MS to make certain theier records are correct? One last question is when I finished exam 70-210 there was no score, just said that I passed. Is this normal? Thanks to anyone with this info

MCSE and MCSA will diverge with .Net and will be separate tests to add this to your 2000 certification. Makes you think about which way to go E or A?

It is normal not to get a score on the MCP exams these days, you just get confirmation that you passed.

You normally receive your card and certificate about 14 days after you complete the exam.

Thanks for info / Update

Thanks to everyone for replying. I just passed 70-215 as well! Next one is going to be 70-216, looks a lot tougher than the first two.

To all you are interested in .NET certification I just read that the XP/.NET Track will not "diverge" but MS is going to offer an upgrade exam or two for MCSA/MCSE. Here is one link.

Thanks again!

Actually I read that article again and not certain about XP certification updgrade, as they just mention .NET certification upgrade. I guess they consider XP as the client OS for .NET server?

Certificates & Scores

by Catadmin In reply to Question about MCP Status ...

Certificates are ONLY received once you actually add more letters to the end of your name. When you first become an MCP, you get a card & certificate. Then you don't get another until you become either an MCSA, MCSE, MCDBA, MCSD, etc.

As far as scores go, Microsoft went to a pass/fail system sometime in the past 2 years because scoring is no longer a "simple got the question right or wrong" situation. Many questions now have muliple objectives, so the old points system is out the window. Also, Microsoft wants people to concentrate on knowing the information instead of studying just to pass the test.

Hope that helps!

not to worry

the tests do not give you a score anymore. as far as the info thing e-mail MS and request a check be made and they can correct your info. without your info from your end though they will not tell you anything. and yes they will send you a new card for any cert.
