Quick Drive by H45 Technology-error mess

By georgie8 ·
I have a 486 100 computer and a pentium 133 computer. When I boot the computer to DOS and I already have the Quick Drive hooked up at the a: drive I type in the command so that it will find the Quick Drive and it does.

I can see the files in allfour logical drives D, E, F and G then at the C: prompt I type in: win to go to windows 95 and I get this error message:

VFAT & DOS Volume in drive C: layout are mismatched. Cannot proceed further. Doing so may destroy disk data. Please report this immediately.

I have set the ports to epp and it still does not let me do anything.

I am trying to do this from the boot disk since I have other machines to do and they are all give me the sames similar message. I really do not want to install the software in the Windows environment unless I have to as they are not my machines.

My goal is to be able to run the program from windows without having to install the software to windows on the computer.

Can someone help me out?

I am pretty sure that what you are trying is pretty much impossible... But may a fellow techrepublic techie might have the solution.

I would suggest installing the win95 version of this software. I have a Quick Drive that I use to retreive data of disks with bad o/s. The h45 software for win95 is very simple to install and remove. Actually I leave the software on the machine and diable it in device manager and take it out of run in the registry. That way when I need it, it is there.

If you are able to do it the way you want I wouldn't be surprised to see a high corruption rate.

Sorry that ain't the answer you were looking for but it is a view.

I have come in contact with a similar poblem with a portable CD and HDD. in both case i had to load the software on a machine then write a batch file to load in the VXD, & VMM drivers. But there a ways even around this. create an autorun file so that you can enter it once you enter into win95/98 a good example come from USB devices. **But you need to know the Virtural Drivers **
