RAM problems

By rohitnatu ·
I have P3 800 PC with 128 MB RAM, 20 Meg HD. The motherboard is GA-6VXE7+. The PC is assembled. I am having problems while upgrading the RAM (trying to add 256 MB. PC 133). The BIOS shows wrong count for RAM when I have old and new memory together. When I remove the Old 128 MB sim and put the new 256 all by itself, the BIOS tells that its 320 MB. I have tried other 256 MB sims too. Having the same problem. Also the PC gives lots of problems while running with this 256 MB sim. It works fine whenI revert to old 128 MB. Has anyone had this problems? According to motherboard manual, it supports 256 SDRAM memory. My old RAM doesn't have the type listed on it. So I don't know if its PC 100 or PC 133.

Any help will be appreciated.
