Random Duplicate Email

By typamfiloff ·
My boss keeps getting duplicate email in Outlook 2002. Everyone has leave on server checked in the office....but he is the only one getting the problem. Also, the problem seems to disappear for a month or so then.......starts back up again. I heard it might be a "Last Message on Server" file corruption....but I have no idea what the file is or what to do about it.

One possible solution, is that there is a duplicate mail account setup with the same information. Therefore, when checking mail, it does it twice, one for each account.

There is one account on one server that receives 2 or more of the same email at random intevals.

Check the CLIENT machine to see if there are two identical accounts setup in Outlook.

Select Tools, then Email Accounts...
Click Next to View or Change and Existing account (radio button should be automatically selected).

There should only beone account setup here. If there are two delete one.

If there is only one account there could be another problem. See next answer.

Continuation from Answer #2:

Select Tools, then Options. Click on the Mail Setup Tab. Click on the Send/Receive button.

This is the new Outlook 2002 Send/Receive control dialog. It controls manual as well as automatic processing. Again, there should only be one item in this list. Deleted any duplicates, then Set the options as needed for the primary one in the list.

Hope this helps...

Well, there is one item listed as "All accounts". If you go to edit...then there are multiple accounts...for some of our users...reflecting the actual multiple accounts they have(Forinstance Customer Service@ or username@ etc.)But they get duplicate emails( or more) for each account sometimes....
So I don't think this is the solution....but it was a great Idea
