I'm currently fiddling with an old Dell Dimension 8100, has four RAM slots, uses RDRAM - question is do all four RIMMs have to be the same size, or just each pair? eg I have 2x128MB, can I fill the other pair with 2x512MB or only 2 more 128MB?

Best to upgrade with matched pairs, but!

First you need to determine if your system is dual or 4 channel and whether 16 or 32 bits. It's also recommended that the system is upgraded using matched pairs.
Have a look at RAMBUS FAQ:
Hope this helps.

matched pairs

well according to CPUId its dual channel and using two PC-800-45 sticks which makes it 16bit - so presumably as long as the other pair is PC-800 and matched size, it doesnt have to match the matched pair in the first channel?
does that make sense?
