Reading Notes 5 email db in Outlook?

By carl ·
Can anyone help me figure out how to convert a Notes 5 email database so it can be read in Outlook 2000? An employee brought their email file with them and needs to get access to it. We use Outlook and would prefer not purchasing Notes for this task. What can we do?

Yepp, why not.

Start Outlook 2000.
Go to File menu item and choose Import and Export...
Then select Import cc:Mail archive and browse to the mail database.
Thats it, Outlook will create a new folder called "cc:Mail archives" in default messagestore.

Have fun.

Dealing with Lotus Notes archive file, not cc:Mail file. There are significant differences in the two that don't allow this sollution to apply to this situation.

Note, the cc:Mail archive format denoted by a .cca extension is different than the Notes .nsf and the cc:Mail import tool doesn't import the messages. Has anyone actually made this work using an .nsf file?

Outlook will not read a NSF file natively.

Your only option is to Download the trial version of Domino 5.0.5 with iNotes, open the NSF and then convert to a PST. Or download just the Notes client trial, open the NSF and export all messages to RTFdocuments.

There maybe 3rd party products available ($$) that will allow you to convert a NSF to PST, but these will require having a Notes Client at the very least.

Where to get a demo:

www.lotus.com

where to find information on 3rd party products

www.notes411.com

Hope this helps.
