Import Function

by TheChas In reply to Rebuild Outllook Express

The standard location of the Outlook Express DBX files is:

C:\Documents and Settings\{user name}\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{a string}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

Note that the portions in {} are variables that you will need to find on the specific system.

Once you find the DBX files on the old hard drive, you can either browse to them if the hard drive is connected, or copy them to an easy to find folder.

Then, open OE and use the File/Import function to import all the old messages.

The address book is stored in a different place.

C:\Documents and Settings\{user name}\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book
