Recalling Reply Message

By bambamz ·
Scenario:
I received an email as a CC that was sent to multiple users. I replied to all. My boss then wanted to reply to me alone. She choose Reply and I was the only one there and then she wanted to recall the message. She did so and sent the next reply again just to me. Then she started receiving "message recall failure" to the people that were in the original email. If she did send the reply to them and only to me why is she getting the "message recall failure" for those people?

She can't do that.
From a help document...

Recall an Email: If you accidentally sent a message, you can attempt to recall it and/or replace it with a revised message.
This method will not work under certain conditions, such as if the message has already been read or moved, if the message was sent in something other than Rich Text, if the recipient is not logged on to the Exchange server, or if the recipient is not using Outlook.

I know all of the restrictions for recalling a message. What my question is this. Why did she get a "message recall failure" for people that she didn't ever send her reply to.

Hi,

Well on the surface it looks like it shouldn't have happened... Although there may be a bug with exchange, most problems of this nature tend to be human error.

Is she sure she replied only to you and didn't have any BCCs? Is she sue she recalled the right message??

It may still be in her sent items folder for checking...

Cheers,
Tim.

DARNIT DARNIT DARNIT. I had looked at the sent items over and over and thought that it was strange that the item that she tried to recall didn't say "attempted to recall" Upon reading your comments I went back to her sent items and she recalled the wrong message. She tried to recall the message that I had sent and not the one that she had sent. Oh my goodness oh my goodness. What a difference a day will make. Thanks so much
