Recommendations for a "Corporate" IMTool

By evin.hill ·
Here at my company, we want to implement a Company wide Instant Messaging tool to communicate between our different departments and our remote branches. We were using AIM, but due to the lack of security, the increase in IM born viruses and non company related use, we need to find a more "corporate" solution. Please make a recommendation for other software to use for company instang messaging. Thanks.

In my opinion, the best option is microsoft Live communication server. It runs on a windows server and is intergrated with Exchange. you can statically assign different ports for clients to connect. Externally you can communicate, after you VPN and authenticate into the network. It also gives you the ability to use MSN IM if you want. you can always lock this down on the firewall.

If you find one let me know.

I posted the same type of request here a while back.

The worst thing about my set-up is that we now have Cisco Pix routers which do not use DHCP so I need an IP based messaging package.
Being cheap, I was not wanting to spend a bundle...but maybe I'll have to pay the piper.

Good luck to you.
