recovering dbx files

By Sapinto ·
i backed up my outlook express files onto cd. however, when i tried to import these into outlook express from cd, i got the message there are no files in that location, or there is an application open that is using the files. i've tried renaming thefolder with the .dbx files and copying them onto my hard drive, but with no luck. can anyone assist. also, if this is successful, is there any way of importing mail from outlook express into lotus notes.

Check the properties of the files that you copied to your hard drive. Make sure they are not Read only.

From the Lotus Notes site:

"How do I migrate messages and contacts from Outlook Express to Lotus Notes?

A: Lotus provided a utility in R5 to migrate messages and contacts from Outlook 98/2000 (not Outlook Express) to Lotus Notes. The best way to migrate from Outlook Express is to install Outlook 98/2000, import the messages and contacts from Outlook Express to Outlook .PST format, and then use the utility to migrate from Outlook 98/2000 to Lotus Notes.
In R6, Lotus provided a wizard to migrate from Outlook Express to Lotus Notes R6."
