Recovery of Deleted Files

By volak_sao ·
I'm wondering if there's a way where deleted files (MS Office 97)in Wint NT could be recovered? The files are emptied from Recycle Bin and PC has been restarted.

Out of Luck?

by billc124 In reply to Recovery of Deleted Files

You could be out of luck, unless you send the drive in to one of those data recovery places to salvage the data, but they are usually very expensive. I think you could get the stuff back in 95/98 easier, because you can boot to DOS and try running Undelete, can't do that with NT unless you have a boot disk, but if the drive is NTFS you can't access the partition anyway.

Thanks, Bill, for your advice. I've also an assistance through TR by posting a question and there was a reply, suggesting me to buy File Rescue 2.5 of which could help me to undelete all deleted files.

I'm in the process of placing an order now.
Thank you very much indeed.

File Rescue - Waste of Time and Money

by Wolph In reply to Help found

I attempted to use the File Rescue software to recover a clients documents folder, basically, the Documents folder deleted, trash emptied, I was contacted immediately. At the time I did not have any recovery program handy, I found this thread and bought the software on the recommendation and positive results. On a Fat32 drive, no new data being written, app running from network drive and data being recovered to a network drive, all occurring within 30 minutes of emptying recycle bin. Over 75% of the recovered documents were garbage with not a single error from file rescue. I have since been fighting for a 2 months on return that was started before their 30 day cutoff(fight is currently involving the AG and BBB to pursue other methods ofdealing with this company).
