Recovery of Exchange Mailbox

By tjmarcon ·
Hi. I have the situation in a small office Windows 2000 network consisting of a single Domain Controller. The Domain controller also has Exchange 2000 standard edition installed. Unfortunately the system crashed and the person administering it reinstalled the system and therefore created the domain from scratch. At the same time the exchange server installation was destroyed and exchange was reinstalled. Prior to exchange being reinstalled the mailboxes were saved to a different partition. So what I'm asking is this. Is there any way of recovering the mailboxes from the old exchange installation?

I believe not any more.
I have done several recovery's of exchange (5.5) but then the computer needed to have the same computername and organisation and site name.

I believe also it's best to seperate the dc from the exchange box, so having 2 seperate servers.

I am including the link to the ms disaster recovery for in case something happens in the future you will have that in advance.
(don't know if it will help now)
