Red Hat 7.1 and Intel 845 Chipset

By Ivan the Terrible ·
I need to install Red Hat 7.1 onto a PC which has the Intel 845 chipset, including on-board sound and graphics card. The PC will probably be from the Compaq EVO range.

I have seen lots of issues on many bulletin boards regarding problems with the 845 chipset.

If anyone has any experience or advice regarding installing Red Hat 7.1 on this chipset then please help.

The 845 chipset is supported in kernels 2.4.18 and up.

I am running RH 7.3 on that chipset. I had to disable the onboard soundcard as it was not supported. I threw in an old PCI soundcard that I had sitting in my shop and everything worked just fine.
