If you are trying to archive all the clients in an network with Tape Drive at a single machine, you can try AMANDA Tape backup. RPMs for server and client are available in RedHat 6.1 powertools at sunsite.

If you are only interested in single machine you can also try a utility from RedHat rhbackup.

You didn't mention what version of Redhat, so I'll guess at 6.x.
Try kdat or taper. Both come with Redhat.

Have you tried BRU? It's got both X and command line capabilities, scheduling, etc. It's simple to use, but very flexible. Check it out at www.bru.com

And, you can always use tar if you don't like bru... Tar's what I usually use. It's quick, easy to use, and easy to script with for automation... Read the tar man pages before you buy anything.

Good luck,
Alex
