Redirection of "My favorites"

By tswmc_cpcray ·
I am using mandatory profile for different users. However, I would like the user to add web sites to "My favorites". Can I use redirection in Windows 2000 server? Or is there any other method? Thank you!

Well you could create a common share on the network and give all your users permission to this share. Then in a login script change the following registry value:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer \User Shell Folders\Favorites

Default value = %USERPROFILE%\Favorites
Change to = \\servername\sharename\%username%

Test this and the only thing is that when looking in this shared directory all the favorites are listed as "Favorites" with no username until you click on it then the username shows in Explorer address bar.

Hope this helps.
