Refilling toner cartridges

By rbtblock ·
Tags: Off Topic
I have a Brother HL-5370DW printer. Recently, I saw several YouTube videos and read a PDF that gives me the impression that refilling it's toner cartridge is a straight forward DIY project. Does anyone have experience refilling their Brother toner cartridges? Is it a straight forward process? Where did you purchase the toner? Thanks for your input.

My experience with refilled toner cartridges is very messy

by NickNielsen In reply to Refilling toner cartridge ...

In over 30 years of working with and supporting laser printers, I've never had long-term success with refilled or after-market toner cartridges. I recommend using the OEM cartridges, particularly if your printer is still under warranty. You may save money up front by refilling your own, but you'll probably spend that savings on cleanup costs when they leak toner. And they all do.

Tip: Toner particles are too small for a standard vacuum filter to catch. Use a HEPA filter in the vacuum you use to clean up a toner spill. I repeat. DO NOT attempt to vacuum up a toner spill unless you have a HEPA filter in your vacuum.
