Refreshing separate controls on a form.

By bratchev ·
In Access 2000 can you "repaint" separate controls on a form. Analogous to Me.Repaint, but for a separate control on the form? My goal is to cut back on time since "repainting" the whole form should be more expensive than "repainting" a separate control.

Refreshing separate controls on a form.

Generally a form is tagged to a query. Each field/control is simply one of the columns in the resultant row. Unless a control is bound to its own query you can only "refresh" that control by refreshing the whole form.

If you have specific controls you want to refresh independently, try binding them individually and see what you can achieve.

My answer is similar to answer 1 - but with an example:

I place a list on my Forms to dispay a list of records available for "editing" or "review". I also place Combo boxes requiring the user select from existing data only. Each List or Combo box has its "Row Source" property set to a query (or SELECT statement) that populates the object.

Whenever a user deletes anything the selection list object (SelList) must be requeried to synchronize the list with the forms available choices:

SelList.Requery

Repainting redraws the Operating System's "Window" and has nothing to do with an Access application Form other than Access displays each form in an operating system window that has no connection to application speed. I believe you are experiencing "data" problems, not "graphic" problems.
