Regedit vs. Gpedit

By khianwei_yeo ·
Just kinda wondering...which of the above is better in implementing security settings for IE for end users? Or do they serve the same purpose?I don't want my end users to access certain areas such as LAN settings and Proxy server settings in Internet Options.

Registry editor

If you are running a w2k domain you should use group policy settings to take away the possibility for end users to change IE settings. The Registry is a dangerous place if you are not an expert. Actually, it is parts of the registry on the client machines that is changed when you configure group policy settings. Also there is a tool called IEAK or Internet Eksplorer Administration Kit that you can find info about at www.microsoft.com
