Remote Assistance won't Connect

By t3sos ·
I'm desparately trying to connect to another comptuer to help a friend...but I keep getting the error message "A Remote Assistance connection could not be established because the DNS name of the remote computer could not be resolved." I've disabled Windows Firewall. I don't believe there are any other firewalls in place. I've check services to ensure RA was enabled and started. Does anyone have ANY Other suggestions?

I find it easier to just go through messengers remote, but will have to be using the same version, or if one puter running 98 and the other vista, prolly wouldn't work...are you using windows or msn to connect?

Did they invite you?

If they haven't enabled assistance on their end and invited you, you're not gonna get in.

Yes. I've checked all "services" to ensure Remote assistance and all associated services are enabled and started.

Having services running and inviting are two different things.

Having the services running does not mean you can automatically connect. If the logon for the computer you are on is not part of the administrators group on the computer to be connected to, that user must invite you... in other words, add your computer and logon to allowed people who can connect to their remote desktop.
